Rules and Regulations
- Dates for submitting your entry form to STAR ACADIE 2008 are between May 1st and June 13th until 3 p.m.
- Participants are required to fill out an application form on the website www.cap-pele.com or could be sent to Village de Cap-Pelé Inc. by fax at (506) 577-2035 or by mail at 33 chemin St-André, Cap-Pelé, NB, E4N 1Z4.
- Auditions will be open to all participants who have reached the age of 15 by May 1st, 2008 and the age of 35 no later than December 31st, 2008.
- The winner of STAR ACADIE will no longer be able to compete in the contest. The second and third place finalists can compete again in two years.
- All participants must have valid proof of age and photo identification.
- No participant can audition without submitting the release form to the executive committee.
- Any participants under the age of 19 must have the release form signed by a parent or legal guardian. Without this form signed, the participant will not be able to audition.
- No weapons, alcohol or non-prescription controlled substances will be permitted at any audition or during any part of the competition.
- Time of auditions will be June 13th at 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. and June 14th at 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. to reduce the number of participants to 11. On Thursday June 19th, starting at 8 p.m., no participants will be elliminated this evening.
- On the day of auditions, the line up will be based on first come first served. Participants should anticipate a waiting line.
- Each participant will sing any song without music for the duration of 30 seconds in front of 3 judges who will have the responsibility to pick the top 11 participants.
- The executive committee may change the structure, process, timing, and duration of the competition to make the event more interesting.
- The executive committee will dismiss any participants from the contest that do not act in a professional manner within the audition and the competition.
- The eleven (11) participants chosen must be able to attend every Thursday evening from June 19th to August 21st and they must also be able to attend the grand finale at the Père-Camille-Léger arena on Thursday, August 28th.
- The participants will have 24 hours after Thursday's performance to select and give their list of songs they will be performing during the next evening of the contest.
- The executive committee insists that all participants sing 50% of all their songs in french during the contest.
- The committee insists that all participants sing the pertinent theme songs of the evening during the contest.
- The voting system will be equally shared between the public and the judges, 50% of the votes for the judges and 50% for the votes to the public.
- If there is a tie between two participants, they will each sing the same song and the jury will then vote again for one or the other participant.
- The participants cannot sing the same song twice during the contest.
STAR ACADIE 2008 is a friendly song competition which offers an occassion for all individuals to show their ability in singing, onstage presence and personality to the public and at the same time having a chance to win great prizes. The Village OF Cap-Pelé Inc. and its partners wish that this contest be a pleasant and unforgettable experience to all.
